My recommended non-fiction reads on marketing, business and self-development, and why reading is now a daily habit for me.

Are you looking for some inspirational books to read?

Are you thinking about the next steps in your business or career?

I’ve created a list of my current favourite non-fiction books and compiled a list of recommendations for you.

One of my 2019 resolutions was to read every day. There were 3 reasons why I started reading more, and it’s now part of my daily routine:

  1. I realised I wasn’t being a good role model for my kids as I had my head in my phone far too much and I needed to change that. How could I nag them to read every day if I didn’t do it myself? I now read with my kids most days at 7 pm for 30 mins. It’s actually now becoming a habit. It also really concerned me with the reports I’d read on teenage boy’s declining reading, so I felt we needed to make some changes.
  2. Someone pointed out to me that you only need to read for about 10-15 minutes a day, and you will probably get through a book every couple of weeks.  When I thought about it like that, I realised that there’s really no excuse why I shouldn’t be able to fit it into my daily routine.
  3. I needed to!  I kick myself for getting out of the habit of reading now. I favoured fiction books over non-fiction for so long. Don’t get me wrong, I still read fiction books, but I was missing out on so many fantastic non-fiction books.

Is it me or are non-fiction books getting better?

I love the fact there is such a diverse range of books from new female authors. I find myself nodding and wanting to shout “YES” or burst into tears because I’m finally reading books where I feel the pain points of a female business owner are finally being understood.

I love reading and find lots of inspiration from others. I have chosen a variety of different books and authors, some may resonate with you and some you may hate. My advice would be to read the reviews and think about what you are most interested in and start there. If you have any other great book recommendations, then please do share them with me:
