The money is in your e-mail list. Having an e-mail list is a tried and tested solid foundation for businesses. Once you have it, you have to continuously upgrade and make the most out of your e-mail marketing.

Hello, there welcome back to the inspiring women in business podcast. Now today's episode is called Three ways to monetize your email list. Now, you will have heard me talk about this in earlier episodes that I really believe that the money is in your email list and that having an email list and building your email list is a very important part of your marketing strategy. Fads will come and go, but email marketing is always there. People are always using email. And it's just such an important part of your email funnel. There is an earlier episode where I go into a lot more detail about why I believe you need to have an email list, the pros, the cons, and how you can actually get started. And if you're on my email list, I've even done mini-lessons in my emails on how to get started, and how to get going. But what inspired this particular podcast episode was a question in my rolling coaching program, the online business collective.

A member who's been quite busy, but has managed to actually get their email marketing set up. So since she's been working with me, she's changed her niche, repositioned her business, launched a new website, rebranded as well actually, repositioned herself added her email, and is speaking at public events. She's absolutely amazing. But she put a question in the group, which was, she's been so busy that she's kind of been neglecting her email list. And she was just wanting a bit of advice, she's got an email newsletter, and she's sharing it regularly. She's getting an open rate of 50%, which is pretty unheard of actually. But she's not sure how to progress with it. And she said she doesn't feel like she's actively moving her subscribers through the customer funnel. And she was just feeling really stuck. And she said she knows the importance of having a list, but she just said I'm not using it effectively. So oh yeah, I love a question like this got loads of ideas I can share with you. And then actually what I did was I came into the group and then did a bit of an because I just had so many ideas. And also because the online business collective isn't just one program. It is actually a collection of programs and courses and resources. I had to redirect her to the list-building toolkit which is in there because that's got lessons in there on how to get started but actually how to monetize your list how to you know, do more advanced things with your funnel and add you know longer email funnels, adding tripwires, things like that to your email list really monetizing it.

So it was a great opportunity for me to not only say well, here are some suggestions of what you can do next, but also redirect them to all the fantastic resources that were in there. So that was supposed to be a really short life and it ended up being a 30-minute training but sometimes that's the best kind of thing when you turn up and you've just got an idea and it's sparked by a question that your customers are asking you and you think oh yeah, I've got the answer to that and I can help you like that. So it was just really great training that has been now added to the online business collective.

So let's just think about this. So you've set up your email list you've got all the tech setup perhaps you have if you haven't you're aiming towards that and even if you haven't got your email list set up and your tech setup I think this episode is a good one because this is like you know whenever you're doing something in your business, you need a goal you need to know why you're doing it. Why are you actually doing okay everybody's saying you know, have an email list and do email marketing, but why on earth do I need to do it?

So I think this is a good episode as well, if you're thinking about the end in mind, if you're like well, I haven't actually got my email list set up, haven't got that lead that new lead magnet set up, I haven't, I'm not emailing my list regularly, perhaps this is also an incentive for you to get going with it to get that technical part and that hurdle out the way and then you can understand why. And also a lot of the things that I'm sharing in this episode, some of them are more complex and take a bit more time, but some of them are really easy and short. So I'm gonna go through them with you.

I'm gonna give you three ways in this episode to monetize your email list. And I will probably come back and do a part two because I've actually got more than three ways. But let's start with three, three ways for you to monetize your email list. So just a caveat here, everything that I share with you on social media, in my emails on my podcast, you remember that I do not believe that there is just one way of running your business. There are multiple ways. There are multiple things that can work in your business, I do think I really do believe having an email list is a tried and tested thing that has been working for many, many years. That's a good solid foundation for your business. But there are multiple ways that you can run your business. There are multiple ways that you can market your business as well. So just remember, if I'm sharing anything with you today, and you think no, I don't, I don't want to do that. Or no, that doesn't feel right to me to listen to you first, and to trust your own instincts, when it comes to what is right for you and your business. My ideas are just a collection of things that I've done. In my own business, I'm always trying things out, I'm always trying things out sharing the learning with learnings with my clients, and with you. And the things that I've tried in my own business and things that my clients have tried as well, in the online business collective, people are trying out things that I am sharing with them as well. And they are just suggestions of things that you can try. It is not a cookie-cutter approach. This is not you must do all these things. These are just some suggestions of how you can make more money more easily when it comes to your business, how you can get your offers out into the world, and how you can make more money with ease and flow. Yeah, so if you believe all that sounds interesting, then I just encourage you to explore some of the things that I'm talking about today.

And so here are three ways that you can start monetizing your list. And the first one is, a mindset shift with everything that I talked about, there is always some reason why we need to look at things with a bit of a different lens and I'm offering a different opinion here to what you might have heard from other people. So I do believe that it's really important to upgrade your marketing mindset. And when it comes to your email list, my suggestion to you is to start selling in every single email, okay, and that might feel a bit like Oh, icky, but stay with me here contrary to what you might think, it is possible to add value, to be helpful, whilst also having a very transparent and authentically you-way of selling in your emails. If you start right from the beginning of actually talking about your offers, make it you know, asking for the sale in your emails take out you know, showing people how you get they can work with you, then people won't be offended, they won't be surprised as soon as when you start doing that if you don't do it and then you start selling it's going to feel you know, there's it's not going to feel as right is it people are going to notice it, people might switch off, they might unsubscribe or and it won't feel as easy for you.

However, from day one you're like talking about this is what I do then that then people know you mean business, it's not a hobby that you're running, it's not a hobby business, you are running a business to make money. So and there are ways, I really believe that there are ways that you can sell without feeling spammy without feeling icky at all. And actually, I'm gonna link in the show notes to a lead magnet that I created. It's called eight ways to nail the sale and this is like a workbook that takes you through different ways you can go further into this when you're actually adjusting your mindset around selling and shifting more towards serving and in it, there is actually a script and a way that you can prepare yourself for a sales call as well it's a very generous lead magnet that has helped many many people. Yeah, and it's called eight steps to nailing the sale and actually enjoying the process as well. So download that will be in the show notes but that was a great one really for adjusting your mindset because this is it.

So let me just recap that again, upgrade your mindset and start selling in every single email. It is possible to add value and be helpful whilst having a very transparent very authentically you call to action to sell in your email and just remembering that it is safe for you to sell it is okay for you to sell and maybe start paying attention as well to the emails that you are getting in your inbox as well and how other people are selling. And if you like the way that people are selling to you, then that might work for you. That's why you don't have to straight copy people, but you can get some ideas. If you don't like something, pay attention to it. But if something just feels like are really good, you know, I liked the language in that email, I like the copy that really resonated with me, it makes me know like and trust that person, then pay attention to that maybe even have a folder of kind of inspiration to inspire you.

Number two, and this kind of follows on from number one about selling in every email is you know, I talked about there are ways of you adding value and being helpful and selling. And I'm just going to touch on that a little bit on how you can actually do that. So whenever you are, you know,

So for instance, in this podcast, I am sharing heaps and heaps of advice with you today. But right at the beginning, I was talking about my coaching program, the online business collective, I'm talking about my lead magnet as well. So I'm encouraging you I'm doing this in a very transparent way, I'm encouraging you in talking about different ways that you could possibly work with me, how you could take the next step. And also, I'm talking about a question that was inside the online business collective as well. And I'm saying these are some of the things that you can do. But inside the online business collective, I can show you how to do that. So I am being helpful. I'm sharing loads of tips and help and helpful content with you. But I'm still talking about my customers, I'm still talking about the way I work with people. So when you are sharing those tips, think about what that link is to, at least how it gets people into your sales funnel, have you got a lead magnet, something you know, that you can then they can take the next step with you like following the kind of breadcrumbs towards working with you. And if you share stories, there's a great way to work or stories or lessons as well. They're great, you know, a lesson in your business, something happened to you a lesson from your client, something that you heard, and then or something that you overcame, or something that your clients overcame, and how then you now help people with that actual problem. So that's a really great way of if you're sort of weaving stories, lessons, tips, useful information, case studies, and then weaving it back to your actual offer ways of actually working with you as well. So you're top of mind, people are like starting to see you and you're positioning yourself as that person that can actually help people. So always link back.

And now sometimes we write and we write an email or we write a blog post and it doesn't feel like there's a natural way to then leading to how people can actually work with you. So another thing that you could do this is number three is you can add a super signature to the bottom of your email, a super signature. It can be as simple as a PS when you're ready. Here are three ways you can work with me. So if you look at my weekly emails, if you're in my email, if you're getting my weekly email newsletter, I don't call it a newsletter. It's just a weekly email. I just share business tips and advice you get. I share my latest podcast with you but it's full of like lessons, stories, tips, advice, and helpful information for you, for your business, for your marketing, and if it doesn't feel like there isn't a natural way for me to actually then go lead into how you can work with me. I will say at the bottom PS when you're ready. There are three ways that you can work with me. And actually, I don't always in that super signature and you don't have to either they don't all have to be different ways they can work with you.

So those are three ways that you can start monetizing your listener now. Number one is to start you know, upgrade your mind marketing mindset and start selling every single email remembering it is safe for you to sell. And you can still do that in a really authentic way you can merge that great content with selling as well with a selling call to action or at least the next step to working with you. Number two is weaving a story a lesson a client case study helpful information and then making it relevant to your offer. So if you were thinking if you'd like reverse engineer it and look at your offer, what steps will be kind of a relevant way of leading people towards that offer. And I've said here as well actually just looking at my notes it says all share helpful advice and then link back to your offer like I've done in this podcast. Number three was, add a super signature to the bottom of your email. A super signature can be as simple as p s when you're ready.
